Canberra, like most Australian cities, is culturally diverse. The following sections give a few ideas as to places and streets in Canberra that are worth-while visiting for somewhere to have a bite and a drink.
Restaurants and Cafes
Civic is the main area to look for a restaurant or cafe, however if you are wanting a great choice of Asian cuisine, the suburb of Dickson would be the recommended part of Canberra to visit.
Manuka and Kingston are both areas that tend towards a more upmarket clientele, which is reflected in the restaurants and cafes available.
Pubs and Hotels
In Canberra, a pint is a pint but a half is called a pot, and a schooner is approximately three-quarter the size of a pint.
Again, Civic is the place to go to find a pub or bar in Canberra.
Canberra Centre, Bunda Street, Civic, has speciality shops as well as depatment stores in the centre.
For specific crafts, the Craft ACT, Civic Square, is a showcase for local and Australian-wide artists.
Markets
The Old Bus Depot Markets, Kingston, is open Sundays, and has both crafts and food and wine stalls.
Gormon House Markets, Braddon, is open Saturdays, and has a more organic, holistic focus to its stalls and produce.
