Hobart, like most Australian cities, has a wide cultural diversity in its cuisine, and alfresco dining is popular during Summer. The following are a few ideas as to places and streets in Hobart that are worth visiting for somewhere to have a bite and a drink.
Restaurants and Cafes
Sullivan’s Cove, Salamanca, North Hobart and Battery Point are all great areas to look for restaurants, and Salamanca, particularly at the weekends, is great for lively cafes around the market area.
Pubs and Hotels
The Hope and Anchor Pub, Macquarie Street, Hobart, is a historical pub with its own museum.
Republic Bar and Café, Elizabeth Street, Hobart, is a more alternative setting for the evening.
The Shipwright’s Arms Hotel, Trumpeter Street, Battery Point, was once a pub for sailors, and also has its own historical section.
Markets
Salamanca Market is perhaps Tasmania’s best known market, and is open every Saturday near the harbour.
