Places to Visit
Perth is the most isolated city in terms of distance, from any other city in the world. It is also currently the fastest growing city in Australia, with a steady influx of people migrating from other countries. The following are just a few of the places worth visiting in Perth.
King’s Park and Botanic Gardens are a short bus journey from Perth’s centre, and as well as beautiful landscapes, there are also scenic views over the city and Darling Ranges.
Perth’s Bell Tower features the Swan Bells, given to the city of Perth as a commemoration of the Bicentenary, from St. Martin’s-of-the-Fields, London.
Western Australia Museum, James Street Mall
Art Gallery of Western Australia, James Street
A short drive from Perth’s centre is the Sunset Coast, which has a variety of beaches to suit individual preferences (Swanbourne Beach is well known in Perth as a nudist beach).
Perth's more local beaches, Cottesloe, west of Perth, and Scarborough, further north, are popular areas for swimming and for dining.
Fremantle is the nearby historical port town, and has quite a few interesting museums and places to visit, including the Fremantle Markets.
