In Australia, there are certain areas of public life that are governed at a state and territory level, such as ambulance services, and smoking regulations.
Ambulance Service
Each state and territory has its own ambulance service, and different interstate agreements/recognition of ambulance membership.
The reason for having specific information regarding this service, is that you may come from a country where having to call for ambulance assistance is part of a national health service. In Australia, and more specifically, in its states and territories, if you do not have ambulance cover or membership, a trip in an ambulance could cost a lot of money.
The Ambulance Service of New South Wales has a website with information regarding its service, and its fees.
Smoking Regulations
In New South Wales, new legislation has come into force since July 2007, further increasing smoke-free areas, including “licensed premises”.
