There is no Australian driver’s license as such, but rather each state/territory issues its own driving license, and if moving from state to state, as well as coming over from another country, you will need to know the rules and regulations of the state you obtain a driver’s license from.

Road and Traffic Authority, NSW (RTA) is New South Wales’ vehicle registration and car licensing authority.

For information regarding car registration (Australian road tax), which is compulsory to drive a car on Australian roads, see RTA Licensing and Registration.

For other information regarding road rules, some of which again can differ from state to state, road safety and vehicle standards, see RTA Overseas Visitors.
