In Australia, there are certain areas of public life that are governed at a state and territory level, such as ambulance services, and smoking regulations.
Ambulance Service
Each state and territory has its own ambulance service, and different interstate agreements/recognition of ambulance membership.
The reason for having specific information regarding this service, is that you might come from a country where having to call for ambulance assistance is part of a national health service. In Australia, and more specifically, in its states and territories, if you do not have ambulance cover or membership, a trip in an ambulance can cost a lot of money.
Queensland, however, have devised a different system which involves a levy to fund ambulance use for its residents.
Smoking Regulations
Queensland has legislation in place that bans smoking in eating/drinking premises, and also in outdoor areas and on patrolled beaches.
